About two years ago, we came across an excellent project out of Chile called Miss Garrison. The electronic beats were intense and the vocals compelling. Their album Al sol de noche landed 3rd in our Top 10 for 2016 and we got to see them showcasing at SXSW that year.

Fast forward to this past week, when an email I received announced that a project called Rubio (from Chile) would be playing at the Resident in DTLA on July 2nd, alongside Fernando Milagros (also a favorite of ours).

After some research, it turns out that Rubio is the solo project from the lead vocalist of Miss Garrison, Fran Straube.

Fran, aka Rubio, has released 5, two song EPs that collectively spell out R U B I O and will be re-released as a full album later on this year.

It’s pop leaning electro, which is emblematic of the Chilean music scene. Check out the video and stay tuned for more from this burgeoning talent.
