Pete Yorn has visited KCRW a few times before, including most recently with Scarlett Johansson, but this live performance was particularly special as he brought a set of songs he worked on with Black Francis. The influence of The Pixies frontman was clear in the stripped down rock tracks. They recorded the album over a marathon 5-day session during which Yorn was sick. We’re glad they forged ahead anyway and brought us some great new tracks like “Velcro Shoes” and “Rock Crowd.” He also played a cover of Gram Parsons’ “Wheels.” A nice, unexpected surprise!

Check out the full set here.
