    Donald Trump took the oath of office Friday, officially becoming the 45th president of the United States. At the same time, protesters took to the streets in Washington DC.

    In some instances, protests turned violent as cars were lit on fire and storefronts were smashed in. Below are scenes from DC on Inauguration Day.
