A bunch of punk rockers got together in San Pedro recently – at an art gallery. The occasion: an exhibition of the art work of legendary guitarist Joe Baiza.

Now 61, this pioneer of the San Pedro punk rock scene was a fine artist before he became a musician. He drew on tour and created artifacts from objects he collected when he got back home.

I talked to Baiza and some of his punk rock brethren at the gallery opening. Here’s the story:

The Mind of Joe Baiza: Paintings, Drawings, Photographs and Artifacts is up at Cornelius Projects, 1417 South Pacific Avenue, San Pedro, through December 21st. Saturdays 1-6pm or by appointment: 310-266-9216 A live performance by Baiza and friends takes place this Sunday, Nov. 17 at 3 pm at the gallery.
