Races’ track “Big Broom” offer a slight hint of Local Natives, another Los Angeles band that they will now share a label with – Frenchkiss Records. According to Buzzbands.la, the sextet “melds charismatic indie-pop highlighted by the boy/girl vocals of Wade Ryff and Breanna Wood, jammier psych-rock built around by guitarist’s Garth Herberg’s textures and the revivalesque energy meted out by bands such as Arcade Fire.” That’s a mouthful, but its right on.

Big Broom by Races

Local imprint Jaxart Records put out a limited edition 7-inch of the track and you can download it on their Bandcamp page.

We expect a full-length release in fall. While you’re waiting, mark off your Mondays in July – they’ll be playing every Monday for the rest of July at the Bootleg Theater.
