    From KCRW Intern Monika Scott

This morning, the delicate, folksy guitar playing of Richard Thompson filled the halls of KCRW. He has been named by Rolling Stone as one of the 20 best guitar players of all time and that was very clear in his live set with Jason Bentley this morning. I couldn’t help but feel myself moving my shoulders to the songs, ultimately causing me to tear myself away from my computer poke my head into the (packed) control room to get a first-hand peek. The warmth of his songs washed over me and gave me a great feeling that lingers as I write this a few hours later.

Now I know he is the father of KCRW favorite Teddy Thompson but until I got into a little water cooler chat with some of the staff I didn’t realize the history that Richard Thompson has had with the station over the arc of his legendary career. His history goes all the way back to him doing a live session with Isabel Holt, the first host of Morning Becomes Eclectic, as well as sitting down with various other DJs throughout the years.

We were so lucky to have him back again, in a live Morning Becomes Eclectic session that sets the perfect mood for your day. Listen to it in our archives here.
