My top 10 list can be summed us thusly – I like guitars. And strong voices. And I dabble in dance and soul. Mostly I like to be lifted up, but occasionally I like to be contemplative. Ok, I guess I like a little of everything.

Either way, these albums got the most spins in my house/car over 2012 and I expect to listen to them a bunch in the future as well. It was a good year.

Top 10 Albums of 2012

Alabama Shakes – “Boys and Girls”

Heartless Bastards – “Arrow”

Tame Impala – “Lonerism”

Bahamas – “Barchords”

Rhye – “The Fall”

Gary Clark Jr. – “Blak and Blu”

Divine Fits – “A Thing Called Divine Fits”

Beach House – “Bloom”

Poolside – “Pacific Standard Time”

The Shins – “Port of Morrow”

Honorable Mentions

Grizzly Bear – “Shields”

Cat Power –“Sun”

Dirty Projectors – “Swing Lo Magellan”

Tennis – “Young and Old”

Lord Huron – “Lonesome Dreams”

Albums I’m most looking forward to in 2013 (off the top of my head):

Yo La Tengo

Thao and the Get Down Stay Down

Local Natives

Jamie Lidell

My Bloody Valentine

Queens of the Stone Age

Ra Ra Riot

Toro y Moi
