Could San Diego’s mayor be on his way out?

After a slew of accusations of sexual advances, and a lawsuit against him and the city, San Diego residents could have a new interim mayor as soon as Friday.

Mayor Bob Filner may leave office as part of a mediation deal that the City Council is expected to vote on during closed session early Friday afternoon.

It’s unclear whether a resignation is part of the deal, but the Mayor was reportedly spotted carrying boxes out of his office.

Filner has been under intense pressure to step down after 20 women came forward to accuse him of sexual harassment.

Meanwhile, the lawyer for a woman suing Filner says a settlement with her is not part of the mediated agreement between Filner and city officials.

LA attorney Gloria Allred says she hopes the agreement calls for Filner’s resignation but says it shouldn’t include the promise to pay Filner’s legal bills.

She says she did not sign the deal announced yesterday by city offiicals.

Sandhya Dirks, reporter with KPBS in San Diego, joined KCRW’s Steve Chiotakis with more.
