SBTRKT’s self-titled album is destined for my top 10 list this year and seeing them play live — atop the Mondrian Hotel in Hollywood with a gorgeous view and a packed house crowded around the pool (and trying not to fall in) – only made me love the music more. The energy that evening was electric as you can see in the photos from Jeremiah Garcia below.
Then today I stumbled upon SBTRKT’s excellent edit of Frank Ocean’s “Thinking Bout You”. The LA artist has plenty of his own buzz and played a sold out show at the El Rey last night.

Ocean relocated to LA from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and he sang a song dedicated to his hometown — “Miss You,” a song he actually penned for Beyonce – last night. This video is from the New Orleans stop of his current tour.
