Kimbra, who is the voice of the “Somebody” from Gotye’s massive hit, “Somebody That I Used to Know“, is one of the brilliant artists performing on KCRWs 2012 SXSW showcases.

A formidable musical talent with a stunning voice, she will be performing tracks from her “Vows” record, which will be out May 22.

For an sample of the kind of aural treats attendees can expect, here’s a pretty cool video of Kimbra performing a cover mash-up of two solid stone cold indie classics Grizzly Bear’s “Two Weeks” and Tears for Fears’ “Head Over Heels” LIVE for Australia’s Triple J radio.

Note that she starts off creating and sampling her vocal phrases in real time, and then proceeds to play them during the performance.

It’s like an excellent technical trapeze act…and she absolutely NAILS it.
