I will never forget Jason Bentley’s wide-eyed excitement when he first told me about the Tame Impala album earlier this year. They went on to become a station favorite and we finally got them in the studio. Despite a few technical glitches, it was great to feel their layered psychedelia washing over me.

They talked about how their music has a lot in common with artists in LA’s electronic scene like Flying Lotus (who’s a big fan of theirs).

As singer Kevin Parker said, “the way we do music it’s organic so its played with hands and fingers and feet,” but it’s “meant to be repetitive and hypnotic like electronic music.”

He calls it a “living sample.”

Pretty cool! Check out the full set here and the set list below, as well as a review of their show at the Echoplex earlier this week by DJ Mario Cotto!
