From KCRW DJ Liza Richardson:

As the music supervisor for The Secret Circle, a supernatural drama about a young witch coven on The CW network, I have the pleasure of working with a lot of brand new, super current music that I love. In tonight’s episode we feature two new songs by NYC duo Tanlines (Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm).

My first favorite song from their new True Panther release “Mixed Emotions”, was “Lost Somewhere”, which I’ve been playing on my Saturday night KCRW show every week since I first heard it! We put it in the rough cut and started the clearance process only to learn that it has a Beach Boys interpolation in it and can’t be cleared. (Music supervision is more complicated than you might think.)

Not to be foiled, we handily replaced it with another great Tanlines tune. And another!

The first one is “Rain Delay”. If you watch the show tonight at 9pm PST you’ll hear it in the local coffee shop as Cassie and Diana head out for prom night. OR just stream it below.

The second song we feature in tonight’s episode is “Nonesuch” and functions as the perfect slow dance song that follows another perfect slow dance song by KCRW’s own DJ songstress extraordinaire, Valida.

Also tonight, we have a flashback to 1995, so a classic tune by Garbage takes us there, which ties into last week’s episode where we heard a brand new song by Garbage.

Next week is the season finale so stay tuned for juicy montage-y big song spots with new tunes from Polica, Zola Jesus, Sharon Van Etten and a spine-tingling new song by Silversun Pickups.

Thanks for listening, and watching 😉 Xo, Liza
