Gemma Dempsey, producer of The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell, checks in with an update on what people are talking about at Sundance, musically speaking….

Greetings from snowy Utah! I bumped into directors Jason Reitman (Up In The Air, Juno) and Kimberly Peirce ( Stop Loss, Boys Don’t Cry) who are here at Sundance working as Jury members.

I asked them if there were any festival highlights they could share with me, knowing that being jury members they cannot divulge or discuss anything about the films they are viewing for the festival – Jason got very excited talking about the music for Another Earth which was written by Fall On Your Sword. Theyperformed live at the Another Earth party and as you will see when you read Jason’s review, he is their new biggest fan!

On another musical note, composer Dustin O’Halloran has done the score for the film Like Crazy which both Elvis Mitchell and KCRW DJChris Douridas have seen and really enjoyed.

From Chris:

“With a sublime score by Dustin O’Halloran, ths film is incredibly beautiful. I was swept away by the story and the incredibly human performances – there is great chemistry between the actors.”

Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones and Jennifer Lawrence, who just picked up an Oscar nomination for Winter’s Bone¸ star in the film.

— Gemma Dempsey

p.s. both Kimberly and Jason talked about how much they loved KCRW and miss it when they work in NYC, as they cherish their in the car time when they can listen to the station. Jason also talked about how much fun he had doing Guest DJ Project with our other favorite Jason, Mr Bentley 🙂
