The New Pornographers brought a 9-piece band into the studio this morning – including singer Neko Case, wearing a zebra-striped hat. This is the first time she’s joined the band in studio since I’ve worked here, though she is such a big part of their sound on all their recordings. (My favorite — I must say — is “Electric Version.” An opinion I share with DJs Eric J Lawrence and Marion Hodges as well. It’s the most energetic of the bunch)

It was really exciting to have Neko here, as well as a few other new faces. If you listened, you know Jason Bentley is a HUGE fan of hers so we were all a little giddy. And, of course, they delivered all the power pop you need to get your morning going – including “Moves,” and “Crash Years.” Check out a highlight below and the full session here.
