The refugee trail that led to Greece and Denmark

While in Copenhagen, Denmark, in November 2015, independent producer Scott Carrier spoke to refugees passing through the city. Their stories were moving, and instead of flying home, Scott followed the refugee trail backwards, to the Greek island of Lesbos. Over the course of a week, he asks them: “Why did you leave home? Where are you going? What has happened along the way?”

Refugees face border controls, illness, uncertainty

In November 2015, the European Union decided to allow only refugees from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan into Northern Europe, stranding thousands of people at the Idomeni transit camp on the border of Greece and Macedonia. Protesting Iranians, Pakistanis, Moroccans and Somalis said they'd rather die than be sent home.
