There were children and babies lining the halls of KCRW as The Walkmen were soundchecking, making it very obvious this is a “family” band. They’ve been making music together for more than a decade with seven full length albums under their belt and it’s one of those rare situations where you watch a band grow up – not just musically but in their personal lives as well.

The Walkmen are definitely in it for the long haul and it was great to have them back.

They kicked off their Morning Becomes Eclectic set with the very sweet “We Can’t Be Beat” with Hamilton Leithauser just nailing the vocals, not an easy task in the morning. They followed with a bunch of new songs, including the title track, from their album “Heaven”.

If you missed this fantastic set, definitely check it out in the archives.

They play in LA tonight at the Ford Amphiteatre, with Milo Greene.
