The Wild Reeds – “Everything Looks Better (In Hindsight)”

LA-based quintet the Wild Reeds have quickly make a name for themselves, first by being regulars at some of the cooler festivals around, including Echo Park Rising, the Bluegrass Situation Festival, Way Over Yonder, and Outside Lands. Their 2014 full-length debut album, Blind and Brave, combined with a series of online videos (culminating in a popular Tiny Desk Concert performance) have only increased attention for the band, even counting New York Times economic columnist & noted indie-rocker Paul Krugman a fan. This week, they have a new EP, featuring this soul-enriching slice of female harmony vocals, “Everything Looks Better (In Hindsight).”

One of their top-notch vocalists Sharon Silva gives some insight into the song: “‘Everything Looks Better (in Hindsight)’ is a song I wrote about how memory is deceptive. When you’re alone and have time to reflect back on a certain experience, it only shows you the good things that you (actually or potentially) missed out on.” Haunting, yet rousing at the same time, the track signals just another reason to expect big things this year from the Wild Reeds!
