Stockton’s bankruptcy trial begins. After years of financial trouble, Stockton declared Chapter 9 bankruptcy last year. Now a court will decide whether the city even had the right to declare chapter 9 bankruptcy, and who takes the losses. New York Times

Who gets Dorner reward? Some of the donors who put up reward money leading to the capture and conviction of Christopher Dorner are saying they don’t want to pay. The issue is whether the $1.2 million should go to anyone after the manhunt ended with Dorner’s apparent suicide. CBS LA

Prop 8 at the Supreme Court. The US Supreme Court will hear arguments over the constitutionality of Proposition 8 on Tuesday. California Attorney General Kamala Harris weighed in on the issue, calling same-sex marriage a fundamental right and a matter of equal protection under the law. CNN

Basketball shakeup at UCLA. UCLA has fired Ben Howland as men’s basketball coach after 10 seasons that included three appearances at Final Four, but ended with an upset at this year’s NCAA tournament. ESPN
