Toro Y Moi‘s latest offering “Anything In Return” had been steadily making it’s way into the hands of every single KCRW DJ before his live performance on Morning Becomes Eclectic.

So much so that it quickly became the number one most played album on our playlist for a few weeks now.

Needless to say we were all just a little excited to welcome producer/ mastermind/ leading man Chaz Bundick back to KCRW for the second time.

What is great about this record is the way in which it keeps revealing itself. The single, “So Many Details” is a rich and deep track that you could listen to from several different angles and hear it for the first time again and again.

From there we started digging deeper and finding songs with the same integrity, but on a completely different level. Songs like “Rose Quartz” , “Say That” and “Grown Up Calls” all dive into the complexities of relationships but never expanding into the professorial or preachy.

In fact when Jason asked him for any sage advice for all the lovers out there for the upcoming Valentines Day, Chaz sheepishly utters, “Just remember, she’s always right. Don’t fight.”

Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.
