True Blood Premiere to Feature Nick Cave and Neko Case Duet

KCRW DJ and Music Supervisor extraordinaire Gary Calamar has something very special lined up for the premiere of True Blood’s fourth season on HBO on June 26 – a duet between Nick Cave and Neko Case!

Gary shared the big news at the Musexpo conference yesterday, saying “You always want to serve the show first, but in the back of my mind I’m also thinking about the soundtrack album.” He says the script called for Santana’s version of The Zombies’ “She’s Not There”, but he overruled that decision in favor of creating a new Cave and Case version.

“The key to a good soundtrack is having fresh recordings,” said Gary.

The True Blood soundtrack releases have earned Gary two Grammy Award nominations so far and Volume 2 included an excellent duet with Lucinda Williams and Elvis Costello on “Kiss Like Your Kiss”. Check out the tracklists for Volumes 1 and Volume 2.
