A lot of people often ask me, “how did you hear about that band?”

Given that I listen to a great deal of music week after week , it’s sometimes difficult to pinpoint the exact moment I either read, was recommended, or serendipitously stumbled upon a new artist.

But then there are those moments when you hear something so captivating you can never forget when those sounds pierced your soul.

Sunday, November 4th about 5pm, while driving to the studio to prepare for my weekly show (6p-8p), Anthony Valadez dropped the incredibly heartfelt and dulcet serenade “A Letter to my Younger Self,” by Ambar Lucid. It was hauntingly beautiful and the chorus was in both English & Spanish.

Valdez would later email me about Ambar saying “he thought it might be up my alley.” He was beyond correct and I was hooked.

Today, we bring you the premiere of Ambar Lucid’s new video & song, “Candy.” It’s a minimalist earwig that again showcases this 17 year old’s massive vocal & lyrical potential.

“‘Candy” was created for me to remember the day that I first performed my songs for people and the happy feeling that I felt. I generally tend to write about things that make me super sad, but “Candy” is a reminder to myself that I actually have happier emotions.”

Ambar is currently working on her forthcoming record, Dreaming Lucid. If it’s anything like the singles she’s released thus far, the first generation Dominican/Mexican-American, singer songwriter is poised to have a tremendous 2019.
