[Watch] St. Vincent – Cruel

Boy are we excited about St. Vincent’s new album!

“Strange Mercy” is set for release on September 13 and today she released a video for the second single, “Cruel”. It’s a galloping pop song with a one-word chorus embodied with lots of meaning by her beautiful voice.

Like her first single “Surgeon”, its captivating and highly original — all the reasons that have had us on the edge of our seat waiting for this album.

Also, I just learned via Spin’s cover story that the uber-talented Annie Clark was inspired by a Nick Cave song to take on the name St.Vincent, which is the hospital where poet Dylan Thomas died. Just another interesting layer in the story of this artist, who is now collaborating with one of her biggest fans –David Byrne!
