All of our DJs receive hundreds of CDs a month to consider for airplay. In this regular feature, KCRW DJ Chuck Pcatalogues his musical bounty from the Post Office each week.

Incredible week here in LA. Spring is, as they say, in the air. Despite what a lot of out-of-towners think, we really do have seasons in LA.

Believe it or not, I got Seasons in the mail, too!

1) Seasons/Hectors split 7″ – Two great tastes that taste great together. The double A side single is sure to get play on the show. For the picture, I chose the Hectors side so you could see the little numbers in the bottom left hand corner. (183 of 300). There’s something special about numbering records… for me anyway. I’m number 183!

2) The Death Set “Michel Poincard” – Nice to see these Aussie lads back with a new album after the untimely death of Beau Velasco back in 2009. Short blasts of song sure to satiate your rock needs in small bite size chunks. Also headed to LA soon… playing the Bootleg Theatre in May.

Crystal Stilts “In Love With Oblivion” – Brooklynites are back with their sophomore release for Slumberland Records. My head is getting gauzy already thinking about their wall of Jesus and Mary Chain sound that they’re so good at conjuring. Ooh… conjuring. That word would play well in Scrabble! See these guys play with Cat’s Eyes at the Natural History Museum the First Friday in May.

Honorable mentions include new music from Femi Kuti, Oh Land, Jonny (feat members of Teenage Fanclub & Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci) & Holy Ghost! A brilliant haul this week.

Tune in tonight at 12a for more…

Best,

Chuck P.
