All of our DJs receive hundreds of CDs a month to consider for airplay. In this regular feature, KCRW DJ Chuck Pcatalogues his musical bounty from the Post Office each week.

What a week. Birth certificates, terrorist take-downs & breezy 70 degree days. Wowsers.

Got some good stuff at the ol’ post office today, too! Here’s a quick run down…

Slumberland vinyl – Friggin’ awesomesauce. A stunning sampling of some of the best releases of the year in plastic form. Brave Irene, Crystal Stilts, Girls Names and Brown Recluse.

Brave Irene is probably my favorite release of 2011 so far. A 7″ is included here from Terry Malts, and it may a contender for 7″ of the week tonight. Goody.

1.5) Groundislava vinyl – I must mention this red 12″ and an orange 7″ from a great band I’ve been playing mp3s from for a few months now. Electronic soundscapes for the post-Kraftwerk set. Groovy.

2) 13 & God – The next chapter in the Notwist & Themselves collaboration. A German psychedelic group creating music with art-rap pioneers. Cool. This should happen more often. Moody.

This Will Destroy You – Post rock from Texas. Have never heard of these guys, but since I’m a post rock/instrumental music fan, I’ll be lending my ears fo sho. Gauzy.

Honorable mentions include even MORE vinyl, this time from Obnox, new cd’s from Amor De Dias, The Feelies & The Antlers, and a new digital release from Fugazi bass man, Joe Lally.

Tune in for this and more tonight @ 12a.

Cheers,

Chuck P.
