Where to watch the London Olympics in Los Angeles

I’m a certified Olympics junkie. I’ve worked the last seven Olympics for

NBC Sports and this is my first time participating as a couch-surfing spectator. I’ve got everything I need for the next 17 days: apps to stream video on my iPad, mobile phone results notifications, websites bookmarked, TV schedule printed. But sometimes, it’s fun to watch with a crowd. So here’s a list of places to watch the Games in LA.

If you really want to feel like you’re there, try watching at some of the British pubs around town:

The Brittania Pub (318 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica) and Ye Olde King’s Head British Pub (116 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica) will have all four channels on around the clock. The Brits tend to excel in sports like Sailing, Rowing and Equestrian. But don’t miss diver Tom Daley and women’s boxer Nicola Adams.Two local spots are hosting Opening Ceremony shin-digs. Varsity Sports Bar and Lounge (6311 Wilshire Blvd., LA) is holding a special viewing party. And, at the new Barney’s Beanery in Westwood, 12 former Olympians will be on hand to watch the torch lighting.

If you’re looking for something a little more high end, try the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills (9400 West Olympic, Beverly Hills). They’re offering gold, silver and bronze viewing menus.

Lots of area sports bars will carry the games all day long.
