My first time tuning into KCRW was when I was in my teens, listening to Morning Becomes Eclectic. It wouldn’t be an understatement to say that show, and the work of the rest of KCRW’s DJs, blew my mind. I make it a point to listen to KCRW every day, and that was before I got my fellowship. When the radio is on, my housemate has to yell my name just to get my attention!
I feel fortunate to work at KCRW today because the station took a chance on me. I was a young journalist barely out of undergrad with virtually no experience in public radio or podcasting.
Listeners like you are the reason KCRW exists. Thank you for making possible the incredible storytelling and great music that you hear every day — and for creating opportunities for developing journalists like me.
This is a station that makes national stories local and interesting, so you look at your neighborhood with fresh eyes. That spirit is essential in these polarized times — and it’s only possible with your help. Become a monthly member today, so we can continue telling the stories you love.

P.S. Donate today to help us raise $20,000 by midnight tonight, unlocking an additional $20,000 thanks to a generous challenge grant from KCRW Champion Irene. She says, “Where else will you find unbiased news and information — that’s local, national, and global — and talented DJs who share their diverse playlists of music of every genre? Please give what you can to keep KCRW your go-to wherever in the world you are.”
