Hi listener,

The past two years have been challenging in a lot of ways. And with so many of us at home, finding connections is more important than ever.

As producer and host of Bodies, one of my goals has always been to create a community among our listeners and let them know they are not alone. When the pandemic hit, we continued to report and produce our podcast. My bedroom became my recording studio. We shipped a recorder to Ohio so that Angelina Fanous could record her story about finding pleasure while living with ALS (check out our award-winning episode Not This Again). In Postpartum in a Pandemic, reporter Kalaisha Totty joined a birth doula in sharing their personal stories of giving birth in 2020. We heard from our listeners that Bodies kept them company and brought them hope.

This in-depth reporting and intimate storytelling takes time, resources, and an amazing team of producers, reporters, composers, and editors. When you support KCRW during the Season of Giving Back, you’re helping podcasts like Bodies. When you give back to KCRW, at any amount, we can continue to take on ambitious stories that expose injustices in our system and collectively build knowledge about our health.

Plus, today only, your dollars will be doubled by a generous $12,500 challenge grant from KCRW fans Ashley, Matt, Wyatt, and Marlowe Kline, who understand and support the kind of work we’re doing on Bodies: “We love KCRW because its fundamental purpose is to make our world a better place — to open our minds to new ideas and get us to think anew; to comfort us with community, culture, and maybe a new song to brighten any day; and to remind us of all of the important stories in the world other than our own.”

Thank you so much for your support and for listening,

P.S. Everyone who donates by December 20th will be automatically entered to win our New Year’s Eve Sweepstakes — an unforgettable VIP New Year’s Eve celebration at the Bungalow in Santa Monica including dinner, dancing, pampering, and a night’s stay at the Fairmont Hotel for you and three friends. Good luck!
