These days, writer and former Miami Herald syndicated columnist Dave Barry has found solace in telling stories that aren’t necessarily true. Not that his style was entirely truthful. But his writing has always been funny and has always poked at life in general, and certain people and places, specifically.
Just ask the people in Grand Forks, North Dakota – whose sewage pumping station is named after, you guessed it, Dave Barry.
Barry’s also written a new book about a big, fat wedding and the zany antics that lead up to it. It’s called “Insane City.”
He spoke with KCRW’s Steve Chiotakis about bales of cocaine flying from the sky, the danger of orangutans at a wedding, and the importance of coffee mugs.
