Bringing LA's Sidewalks into the 21st Century

The LA City Council now has a comprehensive plan to repair the city’s aging sidewalks.  There are about 11,000 miles of them across the city, and some estimates show as many as half need repairs.  Under the proposal, the city will spend about $30 million a year, for the next three decades, to do initial repair work. After that, future renovation costs will be transferred back to property owners. But it's more complicated than just pouring concrete.
