As part of KCRW and DnA’s ongoing coverage of Pacific Standard Time Presents: Modern Architecture in L.A., Art Talk’s Hunter Drohojowska-Philp reviewed the current shows at the Getty and LACMA. She writes:

Overdrive: L.A. Constructs the Future, 1940-1990,’ the Getty Museum and Research Institute launch their next round of PST exhibitions. The show at the Getty itself, on view through July 21, thoroughly and somewhat surprisingly documents this city’s unique consciousness of the future and its place in that time frame. From Disneyland to Disney Hall, we see a leitmotif of innovation in the built environment, we see that L.A. did not happen by accident but by intention and that other cities around the world came here to take notes and implement similar decisions.

We also see the significance of pioneer modern architects in exhibitions at other museums around the city. The Viennese R.M.Schindler is explored in an completely unpredictable yet enticing way at LACMA with an exhibition by L.A.-based conceptual artist Stephen Prina, ‘As He Remembered It.'” Listen to Hunter’s commentary below and read more here.

We also suggest you check out this talk between LACMA director Michael Govan and Stephen Prina on April 27.
