Jonathan Gold is the Pulitzer Prize-winning food writer for the LA Times, and this week he talks about one of the more unusual restaurants to open this year, Mari Vanna,a new Russian restaurant on Melrose Place. He recommends the herring plate, salo plate, chicken holodetz, blini with house cured salmon, "herring under a fur coat," veal kotletki and the olivier salad.
