My seat mate on the flight from Sydney to Adelaide taught me a new word – specky. He shortned the word “spectacular.” Later in the day, our guide in the Botanic Garden, Hayden Bromley, used the word “ticky” to describe “ticker” or your heart. At the central market we were reminded that Australians call bell peppers “capsicum.” Hopefully I’ll get a chance to use some of these new words over the next few days…
