MPAA Report on Global Box Office

Hosted by

Kim and John discuss the MPAA's newly released report, 2011 Theatrical Market Statistics, on the latest box office and movie attendance trends. Among the details of interest, the domestic box office receipts are down while globally receipts have gone up. Also, in the US the report finds that 'Hispanics' -- an audience that Hollywood has generally depended upon for reliable movie theater attendance -- are going to the movies less than in the past. Plus, the MPAA finds that while the 3D releases were up by over 70 percent in 2011, those attending 3D movies were down. Another striking detail was that the number of films being made was down by nearly 50 percent since 2004.
