War at Viacom

Tensions continue to mount in the soap-opera drama that is the fight for the fate of Viacom and CBS. News broke last week that Sumner Redstone had dropped long-time confidante Philippe Dauman from the trust that controls his media empire as well as booted him from the board of directors. Dauman alleges that this is all the work of Redstone's daughter, Shari. The almost-93-year-old Redstone has not been seen publicly since his birthday party last year, though a judge did recently rule that he was of sound mind when he kicked his former companion Manuela Herzer out of his home. Ultimately the battle will come back to Redstone's competency and whether or not he is fit to run a massive public company.
