A Tale of Two LA Disasters

Hosted by

The list of people displaced by the massive gas leak near Porter Ranch continues to grow; the hundreds of families now include California Secretary of State Alex Padilla.  It's prompted Governor Brown to declare a state of emergency and order public health reviews. He's even visited with some of the residents. But there's another – well-documented – environmental blunder across town in East LA. For more than three decades, the Exide battery recycling plant in Vernon – operated outside of state environmental regulations, and when compared to Porter Ranch, the Governor's response has been sluggish at best.
