A Watchdog for the Sheriff's Department

Hosted by

Los Angeles County supervisors are expected tomorrow to consider establishing a civilian oversight commission to serve as the public’s eyes and ears on the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. It comes after renewed calls for such a commission following the accidental shooting of a Pico Rivera man during a hostage standoff on Friday. Frank Mendoza was shot and killed when deputies apparently mistook him for a suspect who broke into his home. Kevin Roderick is editor of LA Observed, and joins KCRW's Steve Chiotakis with the latest.
