Earthquakes, Fracking and Social Media

Hosted by

If you didn't feel the earthquakes last night, chances are you heard about them on social media. There were two of them - a 2.5 magnitude quake struck at about 4:35, and several hours later there was a stronger 3.5 magnitude quake. Both were centered on the same area, and originated from the same fault. The shakers – particularly the second, stronger one – lit up Twitter and Facebook, and some of those comments had people speculating that because of the location of the jolts, they may have had something to do with hydraulic fracturing – or fracking – that goes on in the Baldwin Hills area. KCRW's Steve Chiotakis spoke about it with LA Observed editor Kevin Roderick.
