Financing LA River Improvements

With the turn of the calendar year, came a new law that will free up more money for local areas to fund public works projects. The Great Recession and the California budget crises from a few years back squashed hundreds of agencies that were charged with urban redevelopment. So lawmakers in Sacramento created funding for so-called Enhanced Infrastructure Financing Districts, and officials in the city of LA want to use that money for LA River improvements. KCRW's Steve Chiotakis spoke with Kevin Roderick, editor of LA Observed.
