With such films as The Puffy Chair and Cyrus, actress Katie Aselton has worked a lot in improvisation. With her new film, The Freebie, she also directs a film that doesn't rely a script.
Aselton discusses coming up with the idea for the film and what happened when her lead actor dropped out mid-shoot. She also contrasts her directing style with that of her husband Mark Duplass and other “mumblecore” filmmakers, and reveals why she loves working on FX's The League.
