In recognition of National Autism Awareness Month, we re-broadcast Elvis Mitchell's (November, 2009) interview with Rupert Isaacson, writer and documentary filmmaker of The Horse Boy, which traces the fascinating journey that Isaacson, his wife and their severely autistic son made to Mongolia in an effort to find a way to alleviate his autistic symptoms. Having witnessed the extraordinary connection that his son had with animals, especially horses, and from own experience of witnessing the healing power of shamans in South Africa, Isaacson took his family to the horse-backed shamans of Mongolia.
