Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski: Big Eyes

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski write biographical dramas that could also be comedies. It has a lot to do with their protagonists, who are incredibly ambitious and determined but do what they do in way that might seem absurd. These people, including Larry Flynt (The People vs. Larry Flynt), Andy Kaufman (Man on the Moon), and Ed Wood, are on the fringes of society, and yet, Alexander and Karaszewski handle them in a very non-judgmental way, using common sense characters as an audience surrogate. Their latest film, Big Eyes, is their second collaboration with director Tim Burton, and tells the incredible true story of Margaret and Walter Keene. They love working with Burton because, as Larry says, "Tim is as unafraid as we are to mix tones or mix genres in the middle of a movie."
