Remember the old school Marvel comics of the 60's, with their unusual combination of melodrama and action? Terry Moore's epic comic book series Strangers in Paradise is evocative of that kind of storytelling, before superheroes became franchises, when you never knew who was going to die and who was going to live. SiP revolves around three characters, Francine, David, and Katchoo, in a fairly traditional love triangle, but with their roles reversed (David is the ingenue and Katchoo is the alpha male character). As Comic-Con kicks off in San Diego, Elvis sits down with Terry to discuss his twenty years self-publishing comics, his 'Allman brothers jam session,' and why if he's going to show violence, he makes sure to also show the consequences.
