Democracy Sessions: Oliver Leith, Garland Presented by MOCA and Wild Up US Premiere

Democracy Sessions, a festival of music, art, performance, and happenings, returns in October 2026 for an expanded presentation taking place at cultural spaces across Los Angeles. Democracy Sessions opens with the US premiere of Oliver Leith’s (b. 1990, London) Garland (2025). Presented by MOCA and Wild Up, Garland is a large-scale work for orchestra and community chorus that features 130 performers arranged in a spectacular procession of music, movement, and sound. From 2–6pm there will be a Books & Ballots Pop-Up at the Democracy Center at JANM, next door to The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, with Bloom Wild Book Shop's banned book cart. Guests can shop a especially curated selection of offerings that highlights the history of banned books, as well as learn about resources provided by the LA County Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder / County Clerk, including voter registration, job opportunities, and records access. The Democracy Center's Wish Wall Pop-Up will also be on site for guests to share their wishes for the future.
