As you may have heard, Scott Turow is an acclaimed novelist. He was the mastermind behind novels like “The Burden of Proof” and “Presumed Innocent,” both of which ultimately were adapted into feature films. His gripping legal thrillers are what we all know and love him for. He has sold over 25 million books.
Scott Torow leads a double life, because aside from being an author extraordinaire, he is secretly a rock star…
Since “rock star” might be a stronger phrase than Mr. Turow is comfortable with, we’ll dial it back and say that he is part of an all author rock-n-roll super group called “The Rock Bottom Remainders.” Scott’s band-mates include authors like Matt Groening, Stephen King, Mitch Albom, and Dave Barry (among others) and they only perform a few times a year. Los Angeles has a rare opportunity to catch this literary super group tonight at the El Rey. It’s their 20th anniversary show, and what they might lack in technical music skills (being professional writers, rather than musicians) they make up for in total and utter delightfulness. Get tickets here.
In his guest DJ set, he shares some beautiful sentimental thoughts on fatherhood and his experience with the civil rights movement. Take a listen to his musical influences before heading out the El Rey tonight to see him and other authors you love rock out.
