When Jason Bentley heard Atlas Genius’ song “Trojans” for the first time, his first response was “smash hit”.

They only have an EP, “Through the Glass”, but it’s slowly climbing up the KCRW airplay charts.

From Jason:

“They have that breezy summer energy that reminds of me Phoenix. It’s carefree and cool.”

A comparison to Phoenix – the French indie pop purveyors whose last album catapulted them to mainstream success – can only mean good things. Take a listen for yourself:

Atlas Genius – Trojans by Atlas Genius

I should also mention that Atlas Genius is an Australian band – always a lot of fine pop music coming out of that continent! The band will be opening for the Silversun Pickups at the Santa Monica Civic Center on September 13.
