Jason Bentley returns to take the reins of MBE tomorrow (he’s had Chris Douridas and Anne Litt subbing while attending EDC in Las Vegas!) and to welcome him back, I wanted to share a few of the songs he’s been spinning recently – both Aussie artists!

Andy Bull is getting big love from Triple J radio in his native country. Every time Jason plays it, The Cars-like synthy intro always catches my attention. He produced the song himself and it has a lot of swagger. I love it:

From dance pop to the epic indie rock of “Lanterns” from Birds of Tokyo. Formed in Perth, the band has spent time in Sydney, a French farmhouse and here in LA, honing their sound over four albums and two EPs. Though it’s a bit poppier, fans of The National should dig their somewhat dark, anthemic sound.

I hear the band has been in LA this month so perhaps more new music is on the way soon.
