Brooklyn’s Big Thief has been making waves in the indie music world after releasing two nearly back to back albums of captivating, powerful songs, led by the gorgeous vocals and emotional storytelling by 25-year-old Adrianne Lenker.
From “Mythological Beauty“, about a childhood accident told from the perspective of her mother, to “Mary“, a tribute to one of her best friends, these are very personal songs.
Adrianne quietly hid underneath a hoodie throughout the morning but, once the on-air light was on, the performer in her came alive and she did not hold back. Guitarist Buck Meek is clearly the glue in the band, but all the members play a major part, despite the dominance of her stunning vocals.
Clearly they are a prolific band as they premiered another new song, “Oldest” sung solo by Adrianne (watch below). It’s very beautiful. Find the full session here.
