Comedian Paul F Tompkins is Our Guest DJ

Written by

From KCRW blog contributor Monika Scott:

Paul F Tompkins does.

The best comedians are extremely sensitive human beings, because that sensitivity is precisely what makes them good at what they do. You have to be viewing the world through a very sensitive lens to take the mundane details of daily life and turn them into jokes.

May I recommend his “Gentleman Bandit” bit, for a little taste of how perfect his stand up is.

In what I consider to be a perfect Guest DJ Project set, Paul F Tompkins explores songs that have punctuated different emotional milestones in his life.

He talks about his upbringing, tells a truly beautiful story about his mother, and talks very sincerely about what he went through when “Best Week Ever” came to an end.

He is just as eloquently spoken as his sense of style and casual use of middle initial would imply.   I recommend this episode for anyone who is a human to listen to, and enjoy.  Hear the whole Guest DJ Set here.
