Devin Therriault was born in Brooklyn, NY (already distinguishing himself from the glut of Brooklyn artists as one who actually grew up there), where he has perfected a style that channels the swagger and abandon of Iggy Pop with the New Yawk-cool of Johnny Thunders. He wears his heart on the sleeve of his vintage jacket, which give his songs a soaring rush of romance that leave you dizzy and battered yet wanting more.
On the heels of some wildly entertaining showcases at SXSW and landing on label Frenchkiss Records (The Hold Steady, The Drums, The Antlers, Local Natives), Devin releases his full-length “Romancing” (out today!), an undeniable tour-de-force of devil-may-care.
I haven’t heard this kind of an irresistible New York rock record since The Strokes “Is This It?”.
