Franz Ferdinand & Todd Terje Join Forces for The North Sea

In what I can safely say is this year’s most exciting and completely unexpected turn of events…clever, cheeky Scottish discopunks Franz Ferdinand have collaborated with clever, cheeky ScandoDisco king Todd Terje for a collaboration called The North Sea.

Franz will by playing live on Morning Becomes Eclectic on Tuesday morning and have a forthcoming full length called “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action” on Domino Records due in late August. Terje has just re-changed the dancefloor landscape with his summery samba disco track “Strandbar“.

Composed of two tracks, The North Sea has reworks of two album tracks, “Evil Eye” and “Stand on the Horizon“, and perfectly splits the difference between the Scots’ angular guitars and metronome drumming with the Scandanavian’s polished synths and classy whiplash changes.

Evil Eye“, has a paranoid funhouse mirror quality that is reminiscent of Dr. Dre’s loopiest Eminem anthems and is just as catchy.

Stand on the Horizon” is a slightly more sober affair, and by sober I mean double-fisting pina coladas on a Riviera beach front bar dancefloor at sunset. It’s perfect and a great reminder that the summer is far from over…
